Traffic analysis levels
Opticks has the following traffic analysis levels:
Legitimate
Legitimate traffic is low level risk. No detection was triggered by Opticks.
Suspicious
Suspicious traffic is medium level risk. It means that while the user might not be invalid, can be undesired under some situations, and a customer might not want to pay for that user, while might be OK in other situations. Most of the times, it is related to contextual detections such as:
- The user comes from an out of PlayStore app, which might be related to banned content, piracy, etc.
- The user is browsing contained in an iframe whose domain does not match the landing page, meaning traffic could be hijacked or hiding its true origin
- The user's IP is listed as a datacenter, spam, attacks or VPN IP by one of our external providers (curated ones are listed as invalid) A small percentage of suspicious traffic should not be worrying, but when there are suspicious traffic spikes or high percentages, situation must be investigated. You can get in touch with our support team to learn more about that.
Invalid
Invalid traffic is high level risk. A visit or lead is labeled as invalid when a high risk, non-contextual Opticks detection is triggered. Some examples are:
- Automated software and sophisticated bots
- Device and network manipulation (i.e. a Desktop computer posing as an iPhone)
- Bot and malware fingerprinting
- Curated IP detections such as browsing from Datacenters or VPN products This traffic is invalid under any circumstance, as it is either unable to convert, or undesired due to situations such as hidden location or bot behaviour.
